Reflecting back on my youth, one of the biggest decisions I made was enlisting in the US Army and joining the ranks of the US Infantry. It lead me to places that I had only read about in history classes and gave me a deeper humility and respect for what it means to be an American.
Memorial Day in the USA began after the Civil War and evolved to remember all fallen soldiers. As the arc of liberty continues to ebb and flow, let's not take for granted that which has been bestowed upon us by the countless lives given.
"The greatest glory of a free-born people is to transmit that freedom to their children." - William Havard
To our ancestors, let us remember and honor your sacrifices, the immeasurable debt we owe to those who laid down their lives to protect our nation's ideals. Let us reaffirm our commitment to upholding the values they fought for — unity, freedom, justice, and equality. By doing so, we ensure that their sacrifices were not in vain and that the liberties we enjoy today continue to flourish for generations to come.
It is my hope that what binds our nation is greater than that which divides. I salute the warriors that came before us, those that serve today, and those that are called tomorrow to defend life liberty and the pursuits of happiness. KC Stark
