As someone who’s fairly new to the Wet Mountain Valley, I’ve gotta say—there’s something special about the way Westcliffe and Silver Cliff do Memorial Day.
5 Events + 2 Cities + 1 Day = Endless Memories!
If you’re local—or have always wanted to get off the beaten path from Denver, Colorado Springs, or Pueblo—take a drive back in time and into the Sangre de Cristo Mountains this weekend!
I've been to almost every food and drink joint in the twin mining towns. I don't have a photo of everyone...yet. These are just a few of the good people you're gonna meet. What a fine little secret ya'll got up here. Thanks for feeding me for the last 5 months!
Bonus tip: stay the night. Did you know that 88% of the planet's population zones can't see the Milky Way? You can in the Sangres! These twin town are officially designated as some of the darkest civilized places on the planet.

Kick off with music, food, and neighborly vibes outside KLZR’s studio. This isn’t your average radio station—it’s the frequency of the valley. The block party features live music from Exit 101, great eats, and a laid-back crowd.
Let's mingle, grab a bite, and tap our boots to some local tunes before the parade. I’ll be there holding down a tent and snapping photos. ;)

Midday Stand Tall: Memorial Day Parade

After Parade Step Back in Time: Silver Cliff Museum Open House

Right after the parade, head over to the Silver Cliff Museum for a quiet moment, a free scoop of ice cream, and a walk through local history. I haven’t yet been, so this seems like a perfect opportunity—and free ice cream!

After Party High Note: Live Music at The Silver Dome Saloon

Dark Night: Journey to the Stars with Electronic Assisted Astronomy (EAA) Star Party
